The NUTOFA secretariat at the head office in Gulu
— Why work here

We are growing a member-owned cooperative, rooted in agricultural mechanization. People who share those roots grow with it.

Not hiring right now.
We’d still like to know you.

NUTOFA grows one season at a time. Roles open as the cooperative grows. While you wait for a posting, four programs make it possible to start with us today.

— What we look for

Things harder to put on a CV.

Skills and credentials matter, but these character traits matter more. They are what we read for first when a CV or talent-pool entry lands.

  1. 01

    Passion for the cooperative model.

A genuine belief in member-owned organisations, not just looking for "a job". You should be glad that surplus goes back to members, not to outside shareholders.

  2. 02

    Self-driven.

You plan your week, follow through on commitments, and flag for help before things slip. Field roles especially require independent judgement where the next supervisor is hours away.

  3. 03

    A team player across cultures.

Mechanics, farmers, elected committees, partner staff — Acholi, Lango, Karamojong, Lugbara. You work with all of them on equal terms, in their language where you can.

  4. 04

    Curious. A learner.

Northern Uganda farming, tractor mechanics, microfinance regulation, governance under the Co-operative Societies Act — most new hires know one of these and learn the rest on the job. We would rather you ask than guess.

  5. 05

    Patient with slow decisions.

Committees take time. The membership comes first. If you need startup pace, this is not the place. If you can hold steady, you will see real change.

  6. 06

    Honest and direct.

When something is wrong, you flag it. When a member is unhappy, you acknowledge it. When you make a mistake, you own it and put it right.
