A productivity gap of years, closed in a single season.

One ox-drawn plough opens roughly half an acre a day. A NUTOFA-rostered tractor opens four to six acres in the same time at member rates.

That is the productivity difference that lets a small farm grow a real cash crop, a teenager finish school, and a household stop selling its harvest at the gate to the first middleman with a Hilux.

Excavators, the backhoe and the chain loader handle land clearance. The cooperative also coordinates 167 farmer groups and 17 primary cooperatives across the four sub-regions.

In June 2026 the cooperative received three Kubota diesel tractors (two M9540, one M7040) and a matched set of implements from the Microfinance Support Centre, under Government of Uganda mechanization support.

We work with a small set of dealer partners on the new and second-hand tractor markets. Paid-up members get structured asset finance with a 20 % down payment and a harvest-linked repayment schedule.

Operators on the SACCO roster are dispatched against member bookings, paid by the cooperative on a per-acre basis, and re-certified on a defined refresher cycle. Apprentices welcome.
