A meaningful partnership does more than help a cooperative win. It opens up options, the kind a member-owned, democratically controlled business needs when it runs into a challenge that no single actor can solve alone. That is the spirit in which Devise Solutions Co. Ltd has come on board as a corporate member of NUTOFA SACCO LTD.
The cooperative visited Devise Solutions at its premises at Oxford Station, 7th Street, Industrial Area, Kampala, to see the company’s work and sit down with the team behind it. Devise Solutions builds engineered solutions for homes, farms, industries and institutions. Its work spans generator supply, installation and maintenance on Perkins, Cummins and Lister Petter engines, solar power design and installation, irrigation and water management, and farm equipment for sugarcane, maize, dairy, cotton, coffee and rice.
On the mechanization side, the company carries Shaktiman agricultural implements, the brand of Tirth Agro Technology Pvt Ltd of India. The premises had Shaktiman implements and multi-row planters set out for the visiting team to look through.
Crated implements and equipment filled the store alongside them.
What makes Devise Solutions a fit for the cooperative is not only its product range. It is that the company is not sitting outside farming looking in. It is an agricultural mechanization actor practically engaged in farming as a business, moving in the same direction the cooperative is moving in: putting working machinery, and the power and water systems around it, into the hands of farming communities that need them most.
