On 14 December 2025 the cooperative held its annual Mighty NUTOFA Marathon through the streets of Gulu City. Proceeds went toward the cooperative’s maternal-health support fund, which contributes to obstetric supplies and emergency referral transport for member households across Acholi.
The day began with a 5 km community walk for school-aged participants and members in branded shirts, followed by a 10 km timed run for older categories. Partners from Stanbic Bank, Tulima Solar and the Hunger Project lined the route. The event closed with a brief speech from the Chair and a long working lunch at the head office grounds.
Two outcomes are worth noting:
- Maternal-health fund top-up. The marathon contributed enough to support emergency transport for three months and to procure obstetric supplies through our partner referral hospital, Gulu Regional Referral.
- Member visibility. For many smallholder members from outside Gulu City, this was the first time the cooperative’s brand was seen physically beyond their farmer groups. Branded shirts circulated widely across the day.
We thank every member, partner, supplier and friend of the cooperative who took part. The next marathon is provisionally scheduled for December 2026; member groups interested in volunteering for the organising committee should reach the office before October.
